Great Lakes Gulf CYPU (Covenanters Young People’s Union) met for their annual Summer Bash on June 7. We had roughly 35 youth join us this year. Summer Bash is an event CYPU organizes to bring together high school youth from rising freshman to graduating seniors for an exciting day celebrating the end of the school year and the beginning of summer! The day is split between fun games as well as planned activities, and of course food! Listening to a speaker give a talk, someone sharing a testimony, electing new members for the CYPU team, and sending off the Seniors are also part of this full day!

Each year CYPU is encouraged to hear from pastors and others who willingly share important truths and spiritual insights with teens. This year our Summer Bash speaker was Ian Wise, Associate Pastor at Southside RP in Indianapolis. We appreciated his talk, where he spoke on the Theology of Friendship and the Four Pillars of Friendship. We were also thankful for the opportunity to hear Colin Elliot, an elder at Bloomington RP, give his testimony of faith.

Planned games and activities were other highlights of the day! When we arrived, we kicked off by playing some fun ice-breaker games. Interspersed throughout the day were a walk in the woods, cards, puzzles, a soccer game, ultimate frisbee, basketball, spike ball, and 9-square.

Summer Bash is always a wonderful combination of meaningful talks, fun-filled activities, fellowship, food, and encouragement. We hope to see many more teens attend Summer Bash in future years!
