The 58th annual St. Lawrence Family Conference was held at Silver Lake in Maberly, Ontario last month. The conference was well attended this year with more than two hundred and thirty attendees over the course of the weekend. We were truly blessed by the time of fellowship and learning, and heartened by the evidence of the Lord’s gracious provision in upholding this ministry over the years.
We were thankful to be able to sit under the solid Biblical teaching provided by our keynote speaker, Rev. John Bouwers from the Hope Reformed Church in Brampton, ON. Rev. Bouwers gave four messages on the theme of The Amazing Love of the Father, using the parable of the prodigal son found in Luke 15 to both challenge and encourage his listeners.
Attendees also participated in many fun activities, including our annual talent show, Cèilidh dance, volleyball tournament, psalm sing, swimming, and sail boating.
This year we again had representatives from Reformed Book Services in Brantford, Ontario attend the conference on Friday and Saturday to sell books. They left encouraged by the appetite shown for reformed, Christian literature.
Many of those at this year’s conference have been faithfully attending for many years. Others came as children and youth and are now returning with their own young families or serving on the executive. Additionally, every year we have a several new families who attend and are greatly blessed by their time at the conference. All those who come never leave without being refreshed and renewed by the faithful preaching of God’s Word and encouraged by fellowship with our faithful brothers and sisters in Christ.
Now, we are all very much looking forward to the conference in 2020 and pray that the Lord will continue to bless this event for His kingdom. Thank you to everyone for your prayers. Many children, men and women have been strengthened in their faith due to God working in them through the conference. Maybe we’ll see you at the St. Lawrence Family Conference in 2020!
