Rev. Mark England of San Diego RPC, Rev. Marcelo Sánchez of Batuco, Chile (our first RP minister in Latin America), and Edgar Ibarra (a Student under care of the Presbytery of the Alleghenies) will be traveling on to Bolivia October 27-30. These men are members of the a committee of the RPCNA Synod called Central and South America (CASA) Committee, along with Rev. Steve Bradley (Providence RP) and Rev. David Reese (Springs Reformed RP). Dave Reese and Edgar Ibarra are pictured above (on the left) during a previous mission trip to Argentina.

Edgar tells us more about this upcoming trip: “There are three ministers in Bolivia that have come to believe in RP doctrine and distinctive principles. Late last year they formed a Presbytery and have invited us to come to Bolivia to give 3 days of lectures and to preach at their congregations. Each one of us are giving a lecture each day and on the Lord’s Day we will each fill one of their pulpits.  In addition, we plan to have a private dialogue with their officer bearers on Saturday regarding the future direction of their Presbytery and other related topics.  That same day we are also going to be live on the air via the radio broadcasting all over Bolivia and on the net, talking about the Gospel and the Reformed Faith and fielding on the spot questions.  One of the pastors in Bolivia was once a popular Pentecostal preacher and managed a radio show which he now uses to promote the Gospel and the Reformed Faith.

Pray that the lectures will be a blessing to all that hear them.  Pray for the people listening, that they will be built up in the faith as they are under a lot of opposition and that they will gain a greater understanding of God and the Scriptures, growing in their faith.  Pray for us as individuals.  We will be in La Paz, El Alto, which is the highest city in the world with an elevation, 13,615’ above sea level…pray for our health! Pray for the Church officers in Bolivia that the LORD will grant them wisdom and guidance for the future of their Presbytery and the further spread of the Gospel in Bolivia.

It is an exciting time in the RPCNA as we continue to reach Spanish Latin America with the Gospel and the Reformed Faith.  Pray for Rev. Marcelo Sánchez as he labors to establish an RPC congregation in Batuco (1hr outside of Santiago), Chile.  Rev. Mark England will be in Chile a week prior to Bolivia to visit with Marcelo and the mission work.  There is a lot of interest in Chile for congregations with an RP distinctive to be established, but at this moment only one RP minister laboring therein.”

A Spanish Reformed Book Fund is managed by the Deacons of Edgar’s home congregation, Trinity RPC in Burtonsville, Maryland.  If you would like you can contribute to this fund by sending a check or money order, with “Spanish Reformed Book Fund” in the memo to the attention of the Deacons and made out to Trinity RPC  4515 Sandy Spring Road Burtonsville, MD 20866.
