From Monday 25th to Wednesday 27th September about 50 serving and retired ministers descended on the Drummond Hotel in Ballykelly, Limavady for the 37th RPCI ministers’ conference.
As this was my first conference I had the pleasure of meeting many fellow RP pastors whose warm welcome enhanced the collegial unity and oneness I felt with them.
The conference speaker was Rev Jeremy Walker from Maidenbower Baptist Church, Crawley, UK. Jeremy spoke passionately and persuasively on the very soul-searching topic of ‘A Shepherd’s Life.’ I’m convinced every man was duly challenged but also left encouraged and renewed in their high calling of the pastoral care of those under their watch.
The conference was opened with a sermon by Rev David Whitla on ‘Strength to Serve’ from 1 Chronicles 28. The closing address by the seasoned Rev Norris Wilson from Hebrews 12:1 encouraged us to keep ‘Running with Endurance.’
To compliment such a veritable spiritual feast we were also treated to classic Irish culinary delights from the kitchen staff of the Drummond Hotel!
If only next time it could be held a little closer to Australia!
