Every September the RPCA puts on a 3-day camp for its 8 to 12 year-olds and their friends. I take any chance I get to spend time at our rustic camp, Dixon’s Creek, and greatly enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of this year’s junior camp as a leader. I was encouraged to see a great turnout of twenty-four kids; not only from our congregations of Frankston, McKinnon, and Geelong, but also from other churches around Victoria with whom we have connections. Dixon’s Creek camp provides a unique experience of being able to step out of daily routine and enjoy time with friends in a refreshing place.

This year’s camp director, Adele Ellery (Geelong RPC) did a wonderful job of planning and implementing a balanced program of discipleship and fun. Reuben Feldman (Geelong RPC) led the studies for the kids. They learned about how God’s word is “a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105) and what it means that it is “sweeter than honey” (Psalm 119:103). Everyone participated in games, trivia, dorm inspections, devotions, a bushwalk, and a talent show, and the campers also had free time to get to know each other more in a relaxed setting. I was grateful to be on a fantastic team with Adele, Reuben, Roby Vicary, Cerisa Benjamin, and Sam Demitriou. They made the work of running the camp a labour of love and so much fun, and I hope to be able to help again next year.

We are thankful for the answered prayers for health, good weather, and safety which all contributed to everything running smoothly. I ask that you continue to pray with me for the kids who attended camp this year; that they will remember what they learned, develop the friendships made, and continue to grow and be fruitful as God’s children.
