Our holiday bible club this year ran from 27th – 30th June. It was a fun and extremely busy week!
We had between 39 and 64 children each night, with 72 different children attending in total! As well
as children from the congregation, many of whom had invited friends, we also had others from
schools in the village.
We taught the story of Daniel over the four nights with our talks entitled ‘Taken Away’, ‘The Difficult
Dream’, ‘Writing on the Wall’ and ‘In the Pit’. God’s word was clearly taught through these lessons,
the singing and memory verses. We learned that no matter what the circumstances, Daniel trusted
God and did not compromise God’s place in his life.
We were all encouraged by Daniel’s example of a christian living in a difficult world and saw the powerful pictures of the gospel proclaimed through this book. It was summed up well by our memory verse from Proverbs 3 v5&6:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways
acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
The children enjoyed a variety of crafts, baking, challenges and games set in our halls which were
reimagined into the exotic and colourful ‘Hanging Gardens of Babylon’. From crafting fruit trees to
baking top hats to navigating an obstacle course blindfolded to feeding the lions to four corner
football we had it all!
Parents’ night on Friday saw a good turnout of parents and everyone willingly participated in the
lively game, enjoyed beautiful desserts and listened to Philip’s epilogue. It was a great opportunity
to get to know the parents and share the gospel.
We have a lot to praise God for; good attendance, keeping everyone safe over the four nights,
sustaining the team and most importantly children hearing the truth in an ever-concerning society.
Please pray that lives will be changed. Hopefully we will see many of these children at future events
in our church and we are delighted that a couple of parents mentioned they were keen to send their
children along to CY for the first time in September.
“For he is the living God, enduring forever; his kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion
Daniel 6:26
shall be to the end. He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth.”
