The North Edinburgh Go Team took place between the 1st-5th April and the team members were as follows: Heather Loughridge, Ruth Carson, Jolene Fisher, Campbell Quigley, Matteo Plebiscito, and myself. The team arrived on Saturday evening (a little later than expected due to some flight delays!) and some of our hosts kindly collected us from the busy Edinburgh airport. We then got the opportunity to meet and get to know our various hosts that evening. We are so thankful for the warm welcome we received on our arrival in Edinburgh.

On the Lord ’s Day morning we enjoyed breakfast with our hosts and then headed to the Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre to worship with the North Edinburgh congregation. We all thoroughly enjoyed fellowship with the North Edinburgh church family where Peter preached a sermon on Samson. The church kindly provided a lovely congregational lunch after the service which gave us an opportunity to get to know and to chat to those in the congregation. After a lovely lunch, we headed out for a scenic walk at Lauriston Castle, and we spent the afternoon there before attending evening worship together and supper afterwards.

On Monday morning we began leaflet distribution around the local area in Edinburgh. The leaflet contained the good news of the gospel and invited those in the community along to the North Edinburgh church in their new meeting location. After a filling lunch at the Loughridge’s house, we headed out distributing again around the city. That evening some members of the congregation kindly welcomed us into their home for dinner, and then we enjoyed a fun (and very competitive!) games night at the Loughridge’s.

The next morning, after a time of prayer we headed out to continue distribution around the various areas in Edinburgh until lunch time. We are so thankful to God for the great weather and the sunshine he provided as we undertook this work (at times it didn’t quite feel like Scotland!). We had lunch at the Loughridge’s and finished distribution that evening where we had a lovely dinner at another lady from the congregation’s home. Then that night we enjoyed a night of fellowship where we got to hear about the ongoing work of the church in Australia and Canada together.

On Wednesday morning we headed out to distribute invitations for the last time around the local area. Please pray that God would be working in the hearts of everyone who received a leaflet. We were then kindly provided lunch at the Loughridge’s for the final time. Then, that afternoon we enjoyed an afternoon activity of roller skating together and a bit of light shopping. We had our final dinner together at the Loughridge’s home where some farewells were said to those in the team heading off to the GO Team in Airdrie that night. The rest of the team had a time of prayer and Psalm singing that night to draw the team to a close before travelling home on Thursday morning.

On that note, we are so thankful as a team for all of the kindness, care, and hospitality we received over the week from the Loughridge’s, our hosts, and from all of the members of the congregation! The North Edinburgh GO Team was certainly a fantastic time of fellowship and great encouragement for us as a team, and we hope to have been an encouragement to the congregation also; it is our prayer that God would continue to bless the work in North Edinburgh for His glory.
