Around 60 men met at the Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church (Westminster, Colorado, USA) for the 2nd Annual half-day men’s conference.  The prayer last year was that this conference would continue and indeed it has as we have now had two in a row and are looking forward to next year’s gathering already!

The churches that are considered part of the Front Range (the first range of the Rocky Mountains seen from the east are located in Wyoming and Colorado.  There are 5 such congregations in that Presbytery (Midwest Presbytery of the RPCNA):  Laramie RP Church (Laramie, WY,) Salt & Light RP Church (Longmont, Colorado), Springs Reformed Church (Colorado Springs, CO), Tri-Lakes Reformed Church (Colorado Springs, CO), and Westminster RP Church (Westminster, CO) who hosted the event again this year.

There were also quite a few men from other local congregations in the area that attended as well.

The speaker this year was Dr. David Whitla, from the Reformed Presbyterian Seminary in Pittsburgh who teaches church history there.  Dr. Whitla’s topic was Disciples Anonymous where he examined the examples of several lesser-known characters in scripture that had important lessons to teach that we could all learn from.  The subjects were all very revealing and challenging and those in attendance found themselves constantly evaluating themselves as he spoke.

Dr. Whitla broke down his talk into three lessons:

  • The Need for Pastors (Philippians 2:19-30)
  • The Danger of Dictators (3 John 1-14)
  • The Call to be Prayer-Warriors (Colossians 4:12-13).

Each session was followed by a time of refreshment and fellowship.  A delicious brunch of home-cooked breakfast burritos was prepared and served by Angi Hindman and Diane Seaman with the help of many volunteers from the Salt & Light RP Church.

The half-day event was such an encouragement and a great opportunity to connect with others in the Mid-West Presbytery and everyone is looking forward to the continued success of this Men’s Conference.

Please pray:

  • that this event would continue and that the Lord would use the teaching, preaching, and fellowship of that weekend to strengthen His church and bring glory to the name of our Lord
  • that what these men heard would continue to be an encouragement to them as we remember the importance of Pastors, the danger of dictators, and the great need to be prayer-warriors.
