The opening meeting of the annual Synod of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Ireland took place tonight in the Armagh City Hotel. The evening began with outgoing moderator, Rev Philip Moffet (Cullybackey RPC), preaching from Luke 10:1-2 and the need for earnest prayer for labourers for the mission field.

Three new ministers were then welcomed to the Synod – Paul Wallace (Bready RPC), John Coulter (Drimblog RPC) and Joey Dunlap (Loughbrickland RPC).

In his report the outgoing moderator spoke of the many opportunities he had been given to preach in vacant congregations, was well as taking part in several ordinations and visiting some of our sister denominations to bring greetings from the Synod.

Rev Geoff Allen (Dromara RPC), was then appointed as moderator and rose to speak. He spoke of the warm welcome he received since he joined the denomination 14 years ago, and went on to preach from Isaiah 64:6-8 and our response to the Gospel.
