A Time Away

On Friday November 5th and Saturday November 6th, 14 women from the Ottawa Reformed Presbyterian Church (Ontario, Canada) gathered at a retreat centre just west of the city for an overnight getaway. We had the full range of ages represented, from young adult to grandmother. After being unable to gather last year, it was wonderful to be back together in this place.

The retreat centre is run by a gracious Christian family who have turned their century farmhouse into a cozy gathering place, with beautiful trails and wildlife right outside the front door.

While there, we listened to four different talks that were given at a conference earlier this summer on the topic of being Grounded in Truth. The conference was produced by the Revive Our Hearts ministry whose mission is to elevate God’s Word in order to bring freedom, fullness, and fruitfulness in Christ. The talks stimulated helpful discussions on how we are to stay grounded in the presence of God, in Christian community, and through every season of life.

We enjoyed singing together and also benefited from an extended time of prayer on Saturday morning. The food was plentiful and delicious, and many hands made light work of the food preparation and kitchen clean up!  The fall weather cooperated for a refreshing walk through the forest on Saturday afternoon.

Blessed Refreshment

We are thankful to God for the time away to be refreshed by sweet fellowship, time in His Word, and a different pace of life. We pray that we would take what we learned and apply it to our daily tasks, which we can only do well when we are grounded in the truth of His gospel grace.

So thankful to be together!
