Boys Discovery Camp came to Regent House, Newtownards, this year, and enjoyed a fantastic week. The officers and cooks were delighted to welcome 36 campers, our highest number for several years. This is included a large number of first-time campers, who we hope will join us again over the next couple of summers.

This year our Bible talks each day focused on “People Jesus Met”, including Satan, Peter and the thieves at Calvary. In the evening we took time to consider how we can meet Jesus in the Psalms. We hope the boys enjoyed the teaching from God’s Word – it certainly prompted good discussion time in the squads.

The BDC team is passionate about sharing the gospel with the boys and helping young believers to grow in their faith; we pray this is the result of our camp this year.

We enjoyed a typically busy week activities-wise, worshipping with both Knockbracken and Newtownards on the Lord’s Day, and travelling to Ards Leisure Centre, Let’s Go Hydro and Bangor Airtastic during the week. We got a wonderfully sunny evening on Thursday for our BBQ at Crawfordsburn, and we were able to get all our Squad Games fixtures completed. For perhaps the first time ever, we had two squads tied at the top of the leaderboard by the end of the week!

As leader I am very thankful for the fantastic team of officers and cooks who work together to make camp so special – some have been doing so for decades, a testament to their love for this ministry of our church. BDC would appreciate the prayers of the church as we have several va

cancies to fill on our officers and cooks team, and are still working to find a long-term venue for BDC (though we do have a venue for summer 2020 confirmed). Above all, we give thanks to God for continuing to bless camp so richly, and we pray He will use it for His glory for many years to come.
