Last year, to mark the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, Dervock RPC, Ballyclabber RPC, and the 3 local Presbyterian congregations joined together for a 5 week series of meetings considering the “Solas” of the Reformation. The meetings were a great way to foster unity among neighbouring churches and to spend time together studying God’s Word and enjoying fellowship.
As a follow-up, Dervock RPC hosted an event this week under the theme: “Defending the Faith”. Rev. Philip Dunwoody spoke on the history and beliefs of the Jehovah’s Witness movement, as well as some responses we can and should make to those who hold to the beliefs of the “Watchtower Society”.
At least 60 people from the five congregations attended. During supper there was time for discussion of the talk and an opportunity to submit questions to Philip and the other ministers – Revs. James Blair (Ballyclabber), Ross Collins (Ballywatt) and Philip Kerr (Ballyrashane).
As was the case last year, the meeting was marked by a good atmosphere of fellowship and appreciation for the teaching of God’s Word. As the psalmist says, it is indeed good when believers dwell together in unity (Psalm 133:1).
