“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all you soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk with them along the road”.
-Deuteronomy 6: 5-7.
The Lord command for us to love him, is a command which calls us to action. We are love him because he first loved us and we are to do so with all of our heart, soul and strength. This year Drimbolg RP held its first GO Team alongside the annual Holiday Bible Club from 25-28th of June. The team consisted of Reuben McCollum (Ballylagan RP); Jessica Boyd (Ballylagan RP); Victoria Boyd (Ballylagan RP); Thomas Jemphrey (Galway RP); and, Rachel Jemphrey (Galway RP). Each of the team members worked tirelessly, alongside the Drimbolg Volunteers, to ensure the Holiday Bible Clb ran smoothly from beginning to end.
Drimbolg Go team is split into two different age groups: 4-8 year olds and 8-11 year olds. The younger age group has an attendance of around 30 and the lower age group 20 children, with a total of 50 children altogether! Each night the children played games in their age-based groups before gathering for juice, biscuits and singing. After which, the children were again split into their age-based groups for a talk, memory verse and workbook activities. This year’s talk was on Daniel and each night we had enthusiastic volunteers delivering the word of God in a way child-friendly and engaging manner.
Throughout the Holiday Bible Club, God continuously answered our prayers by providing safety for the children as they travelled to, during and home from the Holiday Bible Club. He provided opportunities to discuss His grace and glory on a one-to-one basis with curious children, whether this was during snacks, pick up time, or on the bus journey home. God provided strength and wisdom to each team member in these times.
On reflection, the Drimbolg Go Team was a positive experience for all involved: from the Go Team members; the church volunteers; the congregation; the community; the parents; and for the children who attended. God provided the means by which his Word could be brought to these children and we must continue to pray that his work stirs their hearts and they find themselves seeking his face and loving their Lord God with all their hearts, soul and strength.
