On Saturday 21st July, Dervock RP Church once again had the opportunity to serve refreshments and distribute gospel tracts and sermon CDs at the annual Dervock Running Festival. More than 500 runners from all over Northern Ireland took part either in the 5 mile run or the Dervock Half Marathon. Each year the races begin outside Dervock Community Centre and there are food stands, bouncy castles and amusements for children.
Dervock Church is thankful that for a number of years now we have been given a good location near the end of the course to give out some food and drink to tired runners, as well as a postcard briefly explaining Hebrews 12:1&2, and CDs with a recent sermon from Pastor Philip Dunwoody.
The event is also a good opportunity to talk with local neighbours and friends, some of whom have come along to children’s ministries or other events run by our church throughout the year.
Over 100 sermon CDs were taken as well as the Hebrews 12 postcard. Whilst we might have liked more time to talk to the people who came by our stall, we have been praying that God would do “far more abundantly than all that we ask or think” with the seed that has been swith the seed that has been sown. To him be the glory!
Phil Dunwoody, Pastor @ Dervock RPC
