On a beautiful hot day on Friday 26th May twenty-four ministers’ wives met in the Drummond Hotel, Ballykelly in Northern Ireland for their annual meeting. Ladies travelled from the four presbyteries of the Irish Church, along with two ladies and baby Willow from the Scottish church. It was great that our two missionary wives from Galway were able to be present.

After an opportunity to greet one another we had a beautiful leisurely lunch when we were able to catch up on each other’s news. We really appreciated the waitress service and delicious meal.

After lunch our guest speaker, Judith Somerville, shared with us some of her encouragements and discoveries as a pastor’s wife and mother of quadruplets. She told us how God had encouraged her from his Word during her pregnancy and how she had kept a journal to record God’s promises to her. She shared her experience of God keeping his promises and God’s timing being perfect. Judith encouraged us to take hold of God’s promises to us, His children, by reading the Bible and keeping a spiritual journal.

After this interesting and uplifting talk we had the opportunity to either go for a walk or participate in some craft. Some went for a walk, some sat and chatted while others learnt how to make paper flowers, and it was good to take home a small bouquet of our labours.

After afternoon tea with lovely tray bakes and swapping of recipes it was time to say goodbye and travel home. We thank the ladies of the Western Presbytery who hosted this year’s conference for their work in organising a great day.
