In the past year, the congregation has initiated a community garden ministry and just recently planted a small grove of fruit trees for the community. This came in response to many evident needs in the community and as an outworking of the church’s love of Christ and their love for those created in His image. If you have a bit of a “green thumb” perhaps you have grown up on a farm or just enjoy gardening, your skills could help this new ministry take shape and grow.
In addition to the gardens, the team will get to participate in the weekly KidZone program and get to know some of the people that will benefit from the gardening efforts and you can not only seek to nourish them with good food, but even more importantly see them nourished from the Word of God.
Also, this team will help get things ready for the host congregation’s community clean-up effort to be help the following week. This will involve collecting supplies (plywood, nails, tools, paint, brushes, etc.) so that the next group can jump right in and hopefully accomplish as much as the church can arrange for them to do.
